Bok Tower Gardens in Lake Wales, Florida and Grove House - Florida's Natural

For the last two days we have been checking out some places to go see that would be close to
the Lake Wales Campground where we are staying until Monday.
Today we went to this most beautiful and peaceful gardens just north of the town.
This is the Historic Bok Sancturary. In 1922, Edward Bok decided to create
a sanctuary for birds and the people in Florida because he was so awed by the beauty of
Iron Mountain. As the transformation proceeded, Mr. Bok decided to add a carillon tower.
In 1929, the "Mountain Lake Sanctuary and Singing Tower" was dedicated
by President Calvin Coolidge as Edward Bok's gift for the visitation of the
American people.
Housed in a marble and coquina belltower, the carillon consists of 60 bronze
bells ranging in weight from 16 pounds to nearly 12 tons. It is one of four
carillons in Florida.

This is an amazing place!!!

Exedra and Sunset Overlook. This was given to Mr. Bok by his neighbor's because this is where he would stroll to enjoy
the sunsets. The marble Exedra is a semi-circular place for
conversation and reflection.

Oranges! Oranges! Every Where!!

On Thursday, January 22nd, we drove to a place called Nalcrest, which is for retired letter carriers.... to check it out.
It had a lot of water and beautiful lake, but the houses were very, very
small. John and I decided we had more room in our RV than these houses.
It had a small shopping area and a lot of old people.
NOT FOR US!
