Multnomah Falls/Oregon/July 2008

On our way to Portland, Oregon still on I-84 going West between
Oregon and Washington State we passed beautiful "Multnomah Falls".
Where we had reservations in Portland was only 17 miles back to the falls. The next morning we drove back to Multnomah Falls and had breakfast at the chalet and stayed enjoying the falls and all the shops.
This is just beautiful.

We left Spokane, Washington and went I-90 down the southeast corner of Washington. We picked up I-84 across the border of Oregon & Washington on the Oregon side. These two pictures were taken off I-90 in Washington.

Mammoth Hot Springs & Geyser Basin in Yellowstone/July 2008

These pictures are taken at Mammoth Hot Springs.
Surface water seeps underground, is heated by a deep source of magma, and rises as superheated water. Hot Springs have no constrictions, so water rises, cools, and sinks. The small amount of water in fumaroles flashes into steam before reaching the surface. Mudpots are acidic hot springs with limited water.

These are midway, lower and upper Geyser Basin. There are many of these through out the park and on our way to Mammoth Hot Springs.
